Check a draw

Grants are given out by random draw. This page lets you confirm the result was not chosen — without having to take anyone's word for it.

The -public.json file shared after the draw.

How this works

Before a draw runs, the organiser publishes two fingerprints: one of the list of people entered, and one of a secret number they have picked but not yet revealed.

The winners are then decided by that secret number combined with a public random value from drand — an independent service that publishes an unpredictable number every few seconds. Crucially, the value used is one published after the organiser committed.

So the organiser cannot have known the outcome in advance, and cannot change the entrant list or the secret number afterwards without breaking the fingerprints they already published. This page re-runs the whole calculation and tells you whether it holds.

Everything happens in your browser. Nothing you paste is sent anywhere, and the page works the same whoever is hosting it — you can save it and run it offline if you would rather not trust this site either.
